Synopsis: In this unit, students will compare three instances of government actions against civilians:
1. The treatment of Chinese citizens by the Japanese during the Japanese occupation of China, including the Nanking Massacre, also known as the “Rape of Nanking.”
2. The treatment of Japanese-Americans during World War II.
3. The use of atomic weapons against Japanese citizens.

The unit contains a map activity and a role-playing activity of a war crimes trial.
Narrated pictures of Hiroshima and the Japanese internment camps are included on the disk in movie format.
